Babies and young toddlers love their bottles and sippy cups. Sucking on them can be a soothing activity. However, children?s teeth are important for speech development, chewing, and facial appearance. Babies and toddlers who suck on bottles or sippy cups with any kind of sugary liquid for long periods of time are at risk for developing early childhood tooth decay. Milk, fruit juice, formula, and breast milk all contain sugar.
